In honor of National Library Week and Jazz Appreciation Month, author and former Star-Ledger editor Barbara Kukla will discuss her new book "America's Music: Jazz in Newark" on Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 pm. She will trace Newark's rich jazz history from the 1920s. In honor of New Jersey’s 350th anniversary, David Cowellwill present a lecture titled “The Great Road: A History of Bloomfield Avenue” on Wednesday, April 23 at 7:00 pm. Bloomfield Avenue was the main thoroughfare that linked Newark with outlying communities in Essex County.  This program, funded by Robert and Janet Markman, is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
